Ambassador Brian Challenger brings more than 25 years of distinguished leadership and technical expertise to the aviation sector. A proud alumnus of the University of the West Indies and McGill University, he holds a BA (Hons.) in Political Science and Law, a Diploma in International Relations, and a Diploma in Air and Space Law—along with specialized training in project management, environmental management, and tourism. Throughout his career, Ambassador Challenger has held several pivotal roles, including Secretary to the Antigua and Barbuda Air Transport Licensing Board, Secretary to the VC Bird International Airport Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer of LIAT (1974) Ltd.. He has also served as Director and Chairman of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) Board, Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization Aviation Task Force, and as a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Technical Negotiating Team. His work extends well beyond the boardroom. As a skilled negotiator, Ambassador Challenger has led successful air services negotiations with partners across the Caribbean, North and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. He has also represented Antigua and Barbuda on the global stage as non-resident ambassador to Brazil and Venezuela, strengthening diplomatic and economic ties. With a career that bridges diplomacy, policy, and operational leadership, Ambassador Challenger continues to play a key role in shaping the future of civil aviation in the Eastern Caribbean and beyond.
